The 12 Wildest CrossFit WODs I’ve Tested
We have already seen, and we have verified that the Crossfit is a very demanding sport from the warm-up to the Workout of the Day (WOD). In the WODs is where everything is provided for a given workout; results are logged and months later you will repeat the WOD to see how much you have improved. All WODs are hard, but there are 12 Wild Crossfit WODs only suitable for the bravest. Some have heroes names, and others are some of the Crossfit girls and others we have seen in recent championships.
In competitions are where the newest and hardest WODs are first seen since they are trying to measure the athletes’ ability, their endurance, their strength and also their mental strength because to face a world like these you have to be in shape, but there are also that work the psychological aspect.
Fran:
- 21-15-9 Thrusters reps (95lbs / 43kg) and pull-ups.
- At first glance the Fran does not seem very extreme, right?
- Above all, if we do not look at the weight … This WOD is done against the clock.
- The objective is to do it in the minimum possible time. Make a very decent Fran; it should not take more than 5 minutes. The best athletes do it below 2 minutes.
Murph:
- 1 mile run
- 100 pullups
- 200 push-ups
- 300 squats
- 1 mile run
Also, to do this work well you should use a weighted vest with 25lbs of weight. It is a long workout.
Pros athletes take less than 30 minutes but doing it in less than 45 minutes is quite an achievement.
In the Games of 2015 and we are talking about the elite of Crossfit, some athletes ended up fainting and vomited, and many others finished it out of time.
We continue among heroes, and we are going to continue with the third WOD of Crossfit more extreme: It is called Kalsu.
100 thrusters (61kg / 135lbs)
With 5 burpees every minute. It starts with burpees.
If it is just to mention the burpees it difficult … And if we add thrusters that are already hard … It’s a long workout, and it can take about 45 minutes and very hard as the minutes go by.
The Don
Let’s go with another extreme and long workout. It is a total of 666 repetitions that are divided into 10 very hard exercises.
- 66 Deadlifts 110 lbs
- 66 Box jump 24 in
- 66 Kettlebell swings 1.5 pood
- 66 Knees to elbows
- 66 Sit-ups
- 66 Pull-ups
- 66 Thrusters, 55 lbs
- 66 Wall ball shots 20 lbs
- 66 Burpees
- 66 Double-under
With this exercise, all the areas and muscles of the body suffer knees, hands … A very exhausting workout.
King Kong
This workout is considered by many to be the wildest workout of Crossfit and is called King Kong. Doing it as prescribed is within reach of very few.
3 rounds per time:
- 1x Deadlift 455 lbs
- 2x Muscle-up in rings
- 3x Squat clean 250 lbs
- 4x Push-up Handstand
The heroes and the ‘girls’ are tough, but in each CrossFit competition, it is about ‘tightening the rope a bit more’ and pushing the limits to the athletes looking for new routines and exercises with which to look for the maximum of each one. Even Breathless …
This workout is to leave you breathless.
Consists of:
- 2 rounds:
- 75 meters of swimming
- 25 meters of diving pushing a 25-kilogram disc.
We wanted to include the Breadless event in the list of the 12 wildest workouts because they are exercises that are not performed frequently.
This workout was part of this year’s Iron Triathlon Here we find another extreme and long workout that athletes take up to an hour and a half to perform:
- A progression of one to 20 repetitions of:
- Deadlift with 150% of body weight
- Bench press with bodyweight
- Clean with 75% of body weight
- A workout this extreme is so hard that few athletes can finish.
No doubt you have to be made of steel to complete this workout without injuring yourself.
Trail Run Games at the Crossfit Games in 2016, the athletes met with a surprise they did not expect.
They had to move 300 kilometers to reach the ranch Aromas to run 7 kilometers divided into 3 sections with significant differences of up to 50% where they had to help themselves with their hands to climb.
This is running, raised to the maximum power. Event 9: The SeparatorThis is one of the workouts that took place at this year’s Crossfit Games. It consisted of a 16-minute time cap to complete these exercises:
- 12 ring handstand push-ups
- 15 back squats
- 20 burpees
- 9 ring handstand push-ups
- 18 front squats
- 20 burpees
- 6 ring handstand push-ups
- 21 overhead squats
- 20 burpees
- Women
- 15 back squats
- 20 burpees
- 6 ring handstand push-ups
- 18 front squats
- 20 burpees
- 4 ring handstand push-ups
- 21 overhead squats
- 20 burpees
- 2 ring handstand push-ups
It seems incredible to be able to do all of them in 16 minutes, right? That’s why we’ve also included him as one of the hardest Crossfit workouts.
The most complex part of this workout is that for the men, to do the handstand push ups you need to do a muscle up then knock out the push-ups. Also, it is the first time that this exercise was included in a championship.
Event 15: Redemption
We continue with the workouts of the Games in 2016.
The difficulty of this exercise is that the pegboard appears. It is not usually done too much in the gym since it is only suitable for the most experienced.
The workout consisted of:
- A 10-minute time cap:
- 3 pegboard ascents
- 21 thrusters
- 2 pegboard ascents
- 15 thrusters
- 1 pegboard ascent
- 9 thrusters
- Men with 135 lb and women 85lb.
The pegboard is already a very hard exercise to which we must add the thruster. Undoubtedly, event 15: The Redemption deserves a place among the 12 most extreme WODs of Crossfit.
Next extreme WOD consisted of:
- Calories Assault Bike.
- Thrusters 100lb
- Toes to Bar
The assault bike is one of the most worn-out exercises, adding the complexity of the Thruster and ending with the T2B.
